One of my OpenVZ servers (home of my nginx proxy which is in front of this website and several others) went down last week. I have not been able to get the physical server back in a working state since then so I finally decided to restore the proxy from a backup on the remaining OpenVZ host. The restore using vzrestore was giving me errors and failed so finally I stood up a new CentOS VZ container and installed nginx with yum and then just copied over the /etc/nginx/conf.d/rproxy.conf file in the backup. This fixed the problem. I had thought of trying to switch from OpenVZ to LXC containers or Docker but discovered that I needed to have a 64bit OS first - these are old 32bit desktop boxes so I will continue using OpenVZ for now.
